Babe Ruth is often thought of as a great power hitter who struck out a lot and didn't hit for a great average. Well, consider this:

605 different players have struck out 100 or more times in a season. Those 605 players have reached 100 K's 1,877 times! Twenty-seven players have had 10 or more seasons with at least 100 K's. Reggie Jackson did it 18 times! Babe Ruth NEVER struck out 100 times in a season.

The highest lifetime batting average (at least 1,000 plate appearances) in the history of the New York Yankees is .349 - by Babe Ruth. The Yankee single-season record is .393 - by Babe Ruth in 1923.
